BASIX (Building Sustainability Index) Certificates were introduced by the NSW Government in 2004 as a tool to reduce the amount of water and energy use in residential dwellings.

NATHERS (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme) is a national scheme and is used for the thermal section of BASIX.
